How does it work?

The BTSSMS check type simulates the SMS process from an end-user perspective. It will send a SMS to itself to verify if the complete SMS process works. The user can define the maximum treshold time during which the SMS should be received.

How to configure?

In the main dashboard overview, click on the ADD NEW MONITOR button

In order to avoid false positives, you can define the software to retry. This means that if a problem is detected, it will automatically retry the number of times defined here before considering that the check failed. You can also set the interval between 2 tests. For example if you want the SMS functionality to be verified every 3 minutes then you set the interval as shown below.

You should set the retry interval to 3 or higher. This allows to reduce risks of false positives. When retrying, the software performs the check almost immediately again after it failed. When set to 3, it does this 3 times in a row and then only considers the check to be DOWN.

Select the correct COM port. Make sure to enter the number of the SIM card inserted into the modem. It should be entered in the international phone number format. You can modify the timeout period and then click on TEST SETTINGS.
