BTSVOICE
From ServersCheck Wiki
How does it work?
The BTSVOICE check type is used to verify if a call can be completed to a specified number. A completed call is a call that was picked up. One could create a monitor to check a number inside the own network; a second one to check a number overseas (to confirm roaming is working); a third one to check a number within a competitor's network; and so on...
A call for which the line was not picked up within 60 seconds will be considered as failed.
This requires a support voice capable modem. Please visit the BTS_Modem page for more info on the supported modems.
How to configure?
In the main dashboard overview, click on the ADD NEW MONITOR button
In the following screen, select the BTSVOICE option.
You can give this monitor a different label. For example VOICE Call local network
In order to avoid false positives, you can define the software to retry. This means that if a problem is detected, it will automatically retry the number of times defined here before considering that the call failed. You can also set the interval between 2 tests. For example if you want this call to be made every 3 minutes then you set the interval as shown below.
You should set the retry interval to 3 or higher. This allows to reduce risks of false positives. When retrying, the software performs the check almost immediately again after it failed. When set to 3, it does this 3 times in a row and then only considers the check to be DOWN.
As modems operate differently in respect to voice call handling, you need to make sure to select the correct modem for the list. The number to called can be entered in international format (+) or just as a normal number would be dialed.
When done click on the TEST SETTINGS button
The call complete sucessfully as shown below. If you test it against a phone next to you, then make sure to pick up when the phone rings. The pick up is what sets this call as being completed and return OK
