Configuring the ServersCheck Service

ServersCheck is an application that runs through a service installed on your Windows® 2000, Windows XP Professional, Windows Server 2003, or Windows Server 2008 computer.

Prior to launch ServersCheck you need to make sure that the service has the option "Allow service to interact with Desktop" disabled. To deactivate this option, go to Services and then double-click on the ServersCheck service and select the "Log On" tab.

Services Management Console

ServersCheck and the Configuration Service can be started from the Services Management Console. To open the console you can either go through Start, Program Files, Administrative Tools, Services (for Windows 2000 only) or by selecting the option in the ServersCheck Launcher application. A new window will open with the last of all services installed on your computer as shown below:

You can modify the service entry so that ServersCheck automatically starts whevenever your computer is started. To do this double click on the ServersCheck Monitoring and the ServersCheck Webserver service and change the option from Manual to Automatic:

ServersCheck under Windows Account

By default a service is installed to run under the Local System Account. Special about this account is that it does not have access to remote computers. As a result all Windows checks will fail.

There is a way to allow the ServersCheck service to have access to the network. To achieve this you need to change the account under which the service runs. The image below shows how to do it. The changes only take effect after stopping and starting the service again.
