How does it work?

The VMWAREHOST-HEALTH check type is used to obtain general health information on the ESX/ESXi host running the virtual machines. This will require VMWare ESX/ESXi release 3 or higher. Communication between ServersCheck and the VMWare host is XML based over SOAP. ServersCheck natively communicates with VMWare.

How to configure?

In the main dashboard overview, click on the MONITOR NEW DEVICE button

Enter the IP address of the VMWare Host and select from the Operating System field VMWare ESX/ESXI

By default the XML SOAP gateway from VMWare runs on port 443. If you haven't changed the port of your VMWare server then leave it to the default value. Enter now also the username and password. Default username for VMWare is root

Click on Next Step >>> The VMWare system will now be scanned to discover the different identifiers needed for monitoring.
